The house was built by Deacon Timothy Pratt in 1746 and served as a private school in the 1790's. In our Pratt House Scrap Book, you can read an excerpt from a girl's journal who attended school here. Timothy Pratt was a carpenter and served as a Deacon in the church across the street from the property.

Connecticut Eagle Tours (Feb. 7th-Mar.22)

Connecticut Audobon Society is hosting a 1 3/4 hr. tour along the CT River to view eagles wintering along the river. This area is the largest concentration of eagles in the Northeast.  All vessels will have a naturalists aboard to assist in the identification of the eagles and their history.  $40.00 per ticket ( call for further details)

A wonderful addition to your stay with us...... The James Gallery and Soda Fountain, on the National Historic Register and Connecticut Freedom Trail... and only steps away! It dates back to 1790 when it was originally part of an inn known as the Humphrey Pratt Tavern, where the Marquis de Lafayette stayed, and also made a purchase in 1824. Humphrey Pratt and Deacon Timothy Pratt were brothers. Today we continue the tradition of the Pratt family hospitality. It will add to your choice of lovely guest rooms and also features an original 1896 soda fountain where you can enjoy some old fashioned ice cream favorites.  To add to that sweet tooth, Sugarplums Candy Shop is also located in the soda fountain where you can purchase fine chocolates , delectable sweets and lovely gift baskets!
